Nominations are Open for the 2024 Reporters’ Workshop

Now is the time to submit nominations for the 2024 Reporters’ Workshop, which will be held in Tallahassee from October 6-8, 2024. This annual event has been hosted by the Florida Supreme Court for more than a decade and is presented by The Florida Bar Media and Communications Law Committee. The workshop serves as a way to provide reporters with a thorough understanding of the court system and valuable insights on covering court news.

The two-day workshop is designed to help reporters understand how courts operate, consider First Amendment issues and libel laws, make public records requests, gain insights on handling high-profile cases, and much more. Sessions are taught by experienced journalists, editors, public information officers, lawyers, judges, and justices.

Nominations must be made by editors, news directors, or publishers, and the deadline for nominations is September 6, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. Selected reporters will receive scholarships to cover accommodations and meals. Travel expenses and incidentals are the responsibility of the participant or the participant’s employer.
